STEP 5 – SUNSHINE SURPRISE

For all their amazing benefits, there is one drawback to using Citrus Oils: phototoxicity. This has to do with negative affects to our skin due to the reaction that takes place between components called furocoumarins found in some Essential Oils and UV rays.

You definitely do not want to experience a photosensitive reaction. This can include redness, irritation, sunburn, blistering, and swelling. Skin damage due to phototoxicity can last weeks, months, or even years. Symptoms can appear shortly after sun exposure or a few hours or even a couple of days later.

Fortunately, this only applies to topical use. Aromatic and internal use of these oils does not put you at risk for having a phototoxic reaction. However, this chemical phenomenon definitely puts a damper on the excitement of topical use for lotions, roller bottle blends, and other DIY products made with Citrus Oils when you expect to go out in the sun shortly after use.

Ready for the good news?

Cold-pressed RED MANDARIN does NOT have UV concerns!

So if you’re looking for an ingredient for a topical blend that contains all the benefits of Citrus Oils without phototoxicity risks, RED MANDARIN is your go-to oil. You can add a couple drops to your favorite lotion or roller bottle blend without fear that you’ll apply it, and then forget and go out in the sun.

This benefit alone is a compelling reason to add RED MANDARIN to your Essential Oil arsenal!

QUESTION – DO YOU SPEND MUCH TIME OUTSIDE IN THE SUN OR AT TANNING BEDS?
